Summary

Robot Valley, a 28-square-kilometer high-tech zone in southern China's Shenzhen, is attracting more and more foreign entrepreneurs, investors, and buyers who come to source parts for their own projects. John, an entrepreneur from California, is developing an AI companion robot. A few months ago, he moved his company from Silicon Valley to Robot Valley for a few simple reasons: speed, price and quality. John, Entrepreneur from Silicon Valley: "Working on a product, asking for a print on a Tuesday night, Wednesday afternoon, we had a delivery to our office. Everything here is within our arm's reach for us to be able to very quickly go see where things have been manufactured, and within a matter of days, and sometimes hours, have solutions faster, cheaper, and more efficiently than we could in other parts of the world." The hyper efficient supply chain is a huge draw for foreigners because it includes such a range of companies including humanoid robot makers, component suppliers, software algorithm firms and research institutes. Liu Tuo, Founder, Shenzhen Tuoji Technology Co., Ltd.: "We have held more than 200 matchmaking sessions. Ninety percent of our clients are from overseas. They visit our physical platforms daily to learn about the supply chain and the component and robot manufacturers within the Robot Valley." Robot Valley is home to more than 200 firms the cover the complete industrial chain and include more than 25 humanoid robot complete-machine manufacturers, 15 listed companies and 32 so-called "little giant" enterprises.
