Summary
Are you looking for the Acolyte Masks in Phantom Blade Zero ? There are four in the Wulin, so keep your eyes peeled while roaming if you want to find them all. We’ve got all the info right here in our guide, but note that we’ve included some spoilers , too. In This Article What are Acolyte Masks in Phantom Blade Zero? Village of Lu: Yanru’s Acolyte Mask Pangzhen: Leiting’s Acolyte Mask Meigu Lake: Guhe’s Venom Mask Crimson Manor: Hansui’s Frost Mask How to use the Acolyte Masks What are Acolyte Masks in Phantom Blade Zero? The Acolyte Masks are part of an overarching side quest called Secrets of the Heart of the Lake. The whole arc begins in the Village of Lu while collecting Firefly’s Memory Flowers . After defeating a secret boss named Dusk, you’re tasked with finding a means to enter a strange realm. Village of Lu: Yanru’s Acolyte Mask You can obtain the first Acolyte Mask in Phantom Blade Zero in the Village of Lu. Tackle the main quest objective normally until you reach the farming fields in the northern part of the map. There, you’ll see a lone scarecrow right across from a training area with shield puppets. Interacting with the scarecrow leads to a boss battle. Your opponent, Yanru, is an adept pyromancer: She’ll blast multiple fireballs in quick succession, so you have to sidestep to get close to her. Whenever a large explosion aura appears under your character, wait for the red flash and do a perfect dodge to teleport and strike her. She periodically floats in mid-air, calling down duplicates that also shoot flaming orbs. Keep dodging/sidestepping until the last one in the sequence. This, too, is an explosion aura that allows for a teleport strike if you perform a perfect dodge. If you’re having trouble with the bout, you can wait until you’re able to explore Pangzhen to obtain the Flameward accessory , as it helps mitigate fire damage and the burning effect. Pangzhen: Leiting’s Acolyte Mask This Phantom Blade Zero Acolyte Mask comes from the sprawling town of Pangzhen, though it’s going to take you a bit of effort. You need to acquire the Flaming Mane by beating the Lion Dance Grandmaster as part of the main quest. This Phantom Edge lets you burn brambles and vines, allowing you to access the southwestern cliffside section of the map. Assuming you’re doing Old Man Gen’s quest, go to the marked location to his home and follow the sloping path. Just a stone’s throw away, you’ll find a scarecrow that’s wreathed in lightning. Of course, the boss that you face, Leiting, also utilizes the power of electricity: She frequently zaps you with lightning and she can create an electrified field that expands outward. She can also spawn multiple circular fields that call down a thunderstrike. The Thunderward accessory, which is in Pangzhen as well, helps with this encounter. Upon reaching the southern part of the island, you should spot a scarecrow surrounded by a flock of birds. Your opponent, Guhe, utilizes poisonous toxins to wear you down. This isn’t a battle of attrition because of how quickly your HP gets depleted. You can mitigate poison damage by equipping the Preservation Jar accessory from the Crimson Forest. Likewise, the Green Serpent Brew removes all status effects and improves your resistances. Guhe likes to summon clones that also toss venomous globules at your character. Just keep sidestepping at this stage. When a green circle appears underneath you, wait for the red flash and time your dodge precisely. This lets you teleport to the real Guhe, allowing you to strike him with impunity for several seconds. The Guhe scarecrow location (left) and boss fight (right). Crimson Manor: Hansui’s Frost Mask Getting this Phantom Blade Zero Acolyte Mask can be quite a challenge. That’s because you actually need to reach the depths of the Crimson Manor . Once you’ve done that, you have to face not one, but two bosses--a duo boss fight, if you will. Initially, you’ll battle the Puppet Scavenger. Its slow and cumbersome attacks hit hard, though they're fairly easy to avoid. Just watch out because this creature can smash and gobble up Soul. However, once the Puppet Scavenger reaches 50% HP, the second boss, Hansui, will show up. She won't betray Ma Teng, but she will cast ice spells. Ice spells can chill and, eventually, freeze your character. If you get frozen, you won’t be able to act or move for several seconds. Your only recourse is to use the aforementioned Green Serpent Brew, which has limited charges. The Frostward accessory does help with mitigation, though it’s found in a snowed-in area in Crimson Forest. In our playthrough, we only obtained it near the tail-end of the campaign and we’re unable to confirm the exact moment when the map gets altered or if it’s tied to a particular action in a side quest. The Puppet Scavenger will remain frozen while you’re fighting Hansui. Once she’s fallen, you can whittle down the creature’s remaining health. Note: This encounter rewards you with not only the Frost Mask, but also two other goodies: Alloyed Scythe Blade - A Soul Temper material for the Hunter’s Chain Sickle. Crystal Puppet Eye: Yang - A key item needed for the secret/true ending. The Hansui scarecrow location (left) and duo boss fight (right). How to use the Acolyte Masks After collecting all four Acolyte Masks in Phantom Blade Zero, make your way to the northwestern part of Meigu Lake. There’s an opening that allows you to dock at the fishing village in these frozen shoals. From there, go to the second bell known as the Four Guardian’s Mirror. Upon interacting with it, the masks will shatter the glass, automatically transporting you to Meigu Lake’s Discordance realm. The Acolyte Masks shatter the mirror that bars the way forward. You can find more loot in this mini-region, including Memory Flowers, Soul Temper Fragments, and even a couple of Quick Hand Zhang treasures . This surreal and trippy area eventually leads you to a boss fight against a ferocious foe. That does it for our guide on where to find all Acolyte Masks in Phantom Blade Zero.
