Summary

Microsoft is now rolling out a revamped right-click menu in Windows 11. This new feature is included in the optional KB5127936 preview update , released on October 28th for Windows 11 25H2 and 26H2. One of the biggest changes in this update is the ability to customize the right-click menu to your own preferences. Using the new “Customize menu” option at the bottom of the right-click menu, you can choose which commands and app features should be displayed. For example, you can add or remove the “Print” command, hide options you don’t use, and choose which add-ons from installed apps should appear, whether directly in the menu or placed in a sub-menu. Microsoft also makes it possible to display “Cut,” “Copy,” “Paste,” “Rename,” “Delete,” and “Share” as standard menu options instead of the row of special icons that was introduced with Windows 11. This allows you to restore some of the look and feel of Windows 10. According to Microsoft, the right-click menu has also been optimized to open more quickly and appear less cluttered. To install the update, navigate to Settings → Windows Update → Advanced options → Optional updates, locate the KB5127936 update, and click the button to download and install. These right-click menu changes are still being rolled out gradually, which means not all users will have access to the new “Customize menu” feature straight away, even after installing the update.
