Summary
Late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers have criticized US President Donald Trump after Republicans suffered significant losses in the 2026 midterm elections. During a recent episode of ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Kimmel responded to Trump's claim that Republicans would have won “IN A LANDSLIDE!” if he had been on the ballot. “Oh, shut up. Just shut up. Please. Give us a break for one day and shut that ridiculous mouth,” Kimmel said, accusing the president of refusing to take responsibility for the election results. Kimmel also pointed to Trump's endorsements of several Republican candidates who lost their races, arguing that the president had been heavily involved in the midterm campaign. He went on to call for Trump to resign, saying: “Quit already. Just quit.” NBC's Seth Meyers addressed Trump's comments on 'Late Night', airing a compilation of the president repeatedly telling supporters that he was effectively on the ballot ahead of the election. “I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you were on the f***ing ballot, my man,” Meyers said, referencing Trump's campaign rallies and frequent involvement in the midterm race.
